What are kidneys?
They are Twin organs that perform vital life maintaining functions.
KIDNEYS
- Clean waste materials and excrete excess fluid from the blood
- Filter the blood, retaining essential compounds, excreting the others
- Help regulate blood pressure and red blood cell count
- Are concerned with insulin metabolism and hence, indirectly, diabetic control.
What are the diseases of the kidneys?
- Congenital (Inborn) - Polycystic Kidney Disease
- Infective - Pyelonephritis
- Trauma - injury
- Neoplastic - cancer
- Other - glomerulonephritis
Diseases, like, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. can affect the kidneys. |
