Will the donor have to observe any restrictions after surgery?

No. He/She can perform all the activities he/she was doing prior to donation. The donor should follow-up with his/her doctor once every year for life.

When can the donor get back to work?

The donor, too, can expect to return to moderate work after 4-6 -weeks, and to resume full activity after 3 months.

Is there any long-term ill - effects on the donor?

No. Several scientific studies conducted worldwide have proved that kidney donation is safe, if performed at a reputable center. In many countries, promotions in the army, and insurance premia remain unaffected after kidney donation.

When can I resume sex life? Can I have children after transplant ?

You may resume an active sex life as soon as you want. In fact, you will notice that your sex life is very robust after transplantation!
If you are a woman, you may find the "woman-on-top", or the 'rear-entry' methods of sex more comfortable.
