What is vascular access?

Any procedure that is done to gain access to your blood vessels is called Vascular Access Procedure. Access is needed to take blood, which contains poisonous materials, out of your body in order to purify it, and to return such purified blood back into your body.

There are 2 types of Vascular Access.
1. TEMPORARY
a) Subclavian, Femoral, or Jugular catheters;
b) Arterio - Venous shunts.

2. PERMANENT
A - V Fistula, AV-Graft.
